The tile work on the Mission is fantastic but the courthouse personally wins the battle in my eyes with great tile work. Most buildings in SB are striking and you can get so wrapped up walking around and taking it all in like I always do. I’ve spent a food amount of time there and I am never not mystified by the natural beauty of that place. The South Coast Inn (www.goleta-hotel.com) is great because it is close to a bunch of lovely buildings well worth admiring!
The tile work in Santa Barbara is one of a kind and just all over the place, it’s really what makes the city so special. How all the buildings match is so cool, especially the red tile roofs! The Mission is probably the most exceptional area for tile work and the courthouse downtown is just out of this world. Whoever designed these are truly gifted!I enjoy going on walking tours whenever I’m in town, my inner architect screams in this town full of things to observe and learn from. I can’t help but stay at the Sandman Inn (www.thesandmaninn.com), perfect part of town and I save so much money as well.
What a beautiful blog! Love the SB Mission, so much history and the tile work is magnificent. I’m planning my next trip in town and I cannot wait to have a picnic at the Rose Garden and just admire the beautiful scenery. I’ll be staying at the South Coast Inn (www.santa-barbara-hotel.com). So classy and very much affordable.
I love the Courthouse In Santa Barbara! It is so gorgeous and the yes, the tile work is spectacular. Taking your own walking tour of it is quite necessary and a great experience. I was just in Santa Barbara and we had a great time doing just this! Stayed at the South Coast Inn (www.santa-barbara-hotel.com). So elegant and affordable!

Thanks for the awesome ideas! I love Mexican food so Check, that’s on the list and harbor cruise with BYOW..um YES PLEASE! And I’m totally down with budget-friendly hotels, but if I wanted to head on down to SB for an anniversary or something, do you have a cute B+B or something you’d suggest?
Oh, and have you tried Tupelo Junction for breakfast? We hit up that place at about 10am and loved the blend…it was like country-style but healthy!!!

The courthouse in Santa Barbara is quite beautiful. Next time you have some more time in town, check out the Mission as well. Also, eat at La Super Rica Taqueria (it’s Julia Child and Oprah’s favorite). It’s a hole in the wall spot with the best authentic Mexican food. If you have enough time to stay the night, I also suggest going on a sunset cruise by the harbor (its BYOW…bring your own wine) and spending the night at a budget-friendly hotel like The Sandman Inn (www.thesandmaninn.com) on State.
